Typhoon Relief Donations – We Did It and You Should Too

Service Uniform Typhoon Relief Donations

Typhoon Haiyan may have been the most powerful tropical cyclone to ever make landfall. 370 miles wide with winds reaching 235 mph, the storm tore through the Philippines taking many lives and leaving behind total devastation.

At Service Uniform, we can’t stand by and do nothing to help. That’s why we’re donating 300 garments to Clothes4Souls. It’s not much, but if everyone donated a few garments from their closet then together we can help the millions of people affected by this disaster start to rebuild their lives.

What is Clothes4Souls?
Clothes4Souls, a division of Soles4Souls, is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty. Right now the organization is working with emergency response providers in the Philippines to help provide safe, sturdy footwear, new clothing and other necessary items for the victims. You can visit their website to learn more about you can help.

Remember Pearl Harbor

Service Uniform

On December 7th, 1941 the Empire of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, bringing the United States into World War II.

Although it’s not a federal holiday, we urge everyone to take a moment to remember the many lives lost that day. The official way to “Remember Pearl Harbor” is to hang the American Flag outside your home. Since the horrible event, the White House and other government buildings have hung the Flag outside and stop for a moment of silence. The American Flag is a symbol of our strength and courage. We may have lost a lot of lives that day, but as a country we never lost our spirit.

The attack on Pearl Harbor happened 72 years ago, but the families and friends of those who died are still affected. Those linked with Pearl Harbor survivors or those who died from the attack participate in special services to commemorate the event. Memorial services are held at venues such as the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. Other activities include: wreath –laying ceremonies; speeches by those associated with the event; luncheons; media stories on survivors’ recollections of the attack; school activities to educate students about the attack.

Check your local listings to find memorial events in your area.

What Do Daylight Saving Time and Uniforms Have in Common?

Is this a trick question? Maybe.

Service Uniform

Daylight saving time is the practice of advancing clocks during summer months so that evening daylight lasts longer, while sacrificing normal sunrise times. The discussion of whether daylight saving time is necessary is a highly debated topic. Those in favor of daylight saving time believe that it serves a purpose by conserving energy and encouraging people to spend more time outdoors. On the other hand, many people do not deem daylight saving time as necessary because no valid study has been done to prove that daylight saving time actually does conserve energy.

So you may be asking yourself what does a uniform rental program have in common with daylight saving time? Absolutely nothing! And that’s a good thing.

Although a uniform rental program may not conserve energy, it will conserve the amount of time and money you expend in the long run. At Service Uniform, we give you a program that is bound to succeed from the beginning, so you won’t experience any setbacks. We are a family-owned business and we treat our customers like one of our own. With that being said, Service Uniform will work with you and your company to meet your needs. Unlike daylight saving time, there is no need to change your program. We promise we’ll get it right the first time.
