5 Inventions That Have Revolutionized the Uniform Industry

Service Uniform’s Blue Chip System® utilizes some of the most advanced technology in the uniform industry. Our system consistently reduces shortages, and has earned honorable mention in TRSA’s award-winning monthly magazine Textile Rental. Although the Blue Chip System® hasn’t reached Popular Mechanics’ top 50 inventions list yet, we know the trajectory for this system aims skyward. Along with some other inventions, here is a list of predecessors to the Blue Chip System that revolutionized the uniform service industry.

  1. The Blue Chip System®

Never before has a uniform service company been able to guarantee 100% accuracy and deliver. With the help of the Blue Chip System®, Service Uniform will always be able to identify your garments at any point in our cleaning process and your order will be 100% accurate when upon arrival. We know you count on us to maintain your image and performance, which is why our double-checked system guarantees your order is accurate and on time, every time.

  1. Washing Machine

The first rotary washing machine was invented by Hamilton Smith in 1858. Service Uniform cleans and hand-inspects every garment that enters our facility. It would be extremely time to consume for us to deliver fresh, clean uniforms to our customers without the assistance of our industrial strength washing machines.

  1. The Diesel Engine

The diesel engine has helped take the uniform industry to the next level by powering large laundry delivery vehicles. As the natural progression from steam-power, diesel engines have several advantages over other internal combustion engines. Some of the advantages diesel engines have over other internal combustion engines include burning less fuel, lesser carbon monoxide content in emissions, and they can be strengthened without worrying about combustion when under high pressure.

  1. The Sewing Machine

In 1846, Elias Howe invented the sewing machine, which made sewing clothes, textiles, and other materials a lot easier. It is one of the few products you can find in all corners of the civilized world. Without sewing machines, it would be impossible for Service Uniform to maintain the amount of garments we have in stock today.

  1. The Factory System

The industrial revolution popularized the factory system in America. As a result of businesses growing larger than ever before, managers needed a way to ensure all required jobs were done well. By linking talent with technology, the factory system revolutionized how large businesses operate.

The most exciting time to be in the uniform service industry is right now. With the continuous advancement of technology, Service Uniform’s ability to serve our customers will continue to improve. Service Uniform takes pride in maintaining a level of service that is superior to industry standards. Give one of our Account Managers a call today to find out how Service Uniform will work tirelessly for you.

Family-Friendly Easter Activities to Welcome Spring

Easter is generally a busy time for families. Between early morning church services and family functions afterwards, most of us begin by praying for enough energy to make it through the day. If you’re having trouble filling up your Easter Sunday with activities, here are 10 ideas for you and your family to share some quality time together.spring easter activities fun

  1. Pipsqueak Peeps

This is a fun craft for kids of all ages. Transform boring plastic eggs with googly eyes, pipe cleaners, pom poms and a little glue to make little bunnies.

  1. Printable rabbit doll

If you have a bunny lover in the family, print out a doll here, cut them out and transfer onto cardstock paper. Be sure to cut the tabs out to attach the bunny’s ensemble to the doll.

  1. Melted crayons of color

If you have a pile of broken crayons, use them to color some hardboiled eggs with your kids. First, shred them with a cheese grater. Once your eggs have cooled, sprinkle them on and watch the colors melt on.

  1. Easter cupcakes

Kids love two things: sugar and sugar. Cupcakes give them healthy doses of both. You can choose all the bright colored icing you want. Here are some colorful cupcake toppers which you can glue to Popsicle or lollipop sticks and decorate the cupcakes with.

  1. Spring chicks

Create these little creatures with many of the same materials as the Peeps. If you’re really feeling crafty, use real eggshells. Some suggest making a grass forest with shredded paper to make the chicks feel more at home.

  1. Candlelight dinner

This is done in many families after a traditional Easter mass or church service, but any family from any religion can participate! Any excuse to gather around the table with your family and other loved ones is good in our book

  1. Make egg-centric stuffers

If you’re planning an egg hunt or two this year, be sure to put more than chocolate and money in the eggs. Give kids fun trinkets or goodies! A fun idea is filling the eggs with puzzle pieces, ending the day with an engaging family activity.

  1. Easter egg race

Decide whether you want raw or hardboiled eggs first. If you have very young rug-rats, we suggest cooked. Then, have two competitors face off, carrying each egg by a spoon held in their mouth.

  1. Easter egg toss

Just like the race, deciding whether or not to use raw eggs comes first. Have two teams line up across from one another and toss the eggs back and forth. The first team to break their egg loses.
