5 Strategies to Win the War on Germs
Changes in weather mean cold and flu season. Don’t allow your office to lose productivity with a lot of sick days. Battle the germs!
Here are some tips to stay healthy this season:
Disinfect your keyboard. According to a recent study, keyboards can be the most germ-ridden objects in the office. Clean the sides of keys with cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl alcohol, and (with the keyboard detached, or laptop turned off) wipe down the whole thing with an alcohol-moistened cloth. Using a can of compressed air to blow the dust out first is also a good idea.
Wash your hands thoroughly. It’s true that washing your hands is one of the best things you can do to battle germs. When washing, you should thoroughly scrub your hands for at least 45 seconds to get the full benefits.
Use hand sanitizer. If you’re going to use the gel-based kind, try to rub it in for at least 30 seconds in order to eliminate most of the germs.
Get some sleep. There are some things that keep us healthier whether we come into contact with germs or not. Sleep is one of them. According to the Archives of Internal Medicine, people who get eight hours or more of sleep a night are three times less likely to catch a cold.
Eat your fruits and veggies! Eating healthy is equally as important as getting enough sleep. There are antioxidants in foods like cranberries, blackberries, beans, and artichokes that keep your immune system strong!
By disinfecting workspaces and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it is possible to keep your office environment hygienic and keep those sick days to a minimum.
