Happy Boss’s Day!

Have you learned a lot at your current job? Do you feel excited to come to work every day? If you have a question, does it get answered? If you answered yes then you may have one awesome boss! Wednesday October 16th is Boss’s Day and we at Service Uniform want to remind you to thank your supervisors and managers.

Boss’s Day started in 1958 with Patricia Haroski. Patricia was a secretary who worked for her father at State Farm Insurance. She chose her father’s birthday as the date for the holiday and registered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Boss’s Day has traditionally been a day for employees to thank their bosses for being kind and fair throughout the year. Some people like to give their bosses cards, certificates or flowers. Writing a personal note about how much of an inspiration they’ve been to you or what you have learned while working with them is also a great way to celebrate.

So what do you do if you’re having a hard time with your boss? Well, don’t forget that they’re people too, so take Boss’s Day as an opportunity to improve your relationship with them. Take your boss out for coffee or lunch and try to understand their position and workload. Whatever you do, don’t act fake or force excitement. Boss’s day is not the appropriate time to try and get a promotion or a raise. Being personable and honest is a great way to stand out.
